Flour babies 411

Because I'm an eighth grader, I have classes that the seventh graders don't have. One of the classes is called Life Skills. The latest assignment had to do with flour. Each student had to have a sack of flour. You could have a 5lb. sack or a 10lb. sack or two 5lb. sacks of flour (for twins). I chose to have just one 5lb. sack of flour. Anyways, I had to pretend that I had a baby and I had to take care of it for three days. I had to fill out a birth certificate and record everything that happened. I had to take the "baby" everywhere I went! It was very frustrating. The "baby" needed a blanket, toys, a face, and clothes. I also needed to make a toy for it too! I'm glad that when the assignment was over, the sacks of flour went to charity. I'm also glad that this assignment is over. The first pic is me with a stuffed basketball toy under my shirt and the second pic is me with holding the sack of flour.

Veteran Poem

Because today is Veteran's Day, I will post the poem I wrote. I wrote this poem for a contest at school. I didn't win though. It didn't matter to me. Here's the poem:

Veteran Poem

Our veterans have fought or do fight side by side with one another.

They know what they are doing although they may be scared or afraid.

They know what they are doing although we may not.

For all the lives in the world living or dead, I pray the most for our brave troops.

America’s troops or as I like to call them, “America’s Warriors” need our strength.

They need our hope. Our love. Our faith.

What they need right now more than ever, is our optimism.

Because they give optimism, we need to return the favor and give it right back to them.

Our troops, veterans, soldiers, Warriors.

God bless America

Tell me what you think!

Small tree

This is my sixth picture that I took at the Arboretum. I took it near the parking lot. I don't really know how to describe the colors, but I think it's pretty!

Really big weeping willow tree

This is my sixth pic that I took at the Arboretum. It's a really big tree. I think it's some sort of weeping willow tree. Inside on the branches and on the trunk, there are millions and millions of scratched writings and etchings of initials and hearts and things like that!

Gorgeous red bush

This is my fifth pic that I took at the Arboretum. It's my favorite because it's small and it's a really pretty pinkish red color! Enjoy!

Very big tree!

This is my fourth pic that I took at the Arboretum. It is a very large tree and I didn't even need to zoom! Enjoy!!

Light colored tree behind dark colored ones

This is my third pic that I took at the Arboretum. I took this pic because I liked the contrast of colors.

At my school we are split into teams. There are 2 or 3 seventh grade teams and 2 or 3 eighth grade teams. During the school year, we have a lot of team spirit competition days. Sometimes it can last a whole week or more. Anyway, on October 17th, we had a team competition. We had to run laps around the two fields my school has. The seventh grade teams were on one field and eighth grade teams were on the other. We had to run as many laps as we could. Each lap got you a tally mark. The team that had the most laps got to go to the Arboretum and the second place team got to watch a movie at school. The team I am on was first place, so we got to go to the Arboretum. On October 24th, we went. It was beautiful over there with all the fall colors. I was also sick.

I'll be posting the pictures that I took over there. This is my first one.
